In June the triumph of death, a fourteenth-century fresco will return after the restoration in the monumental cemetery.
The monumental cemetery of Pisa closes on the northern side of the Piazza del Duomo the wide rectangular gallery that surrounds the ancient cemetery where, according to legend, the Archbishop Ubaldo Lanfranchi would carry the Earth taken by Pisa on Mount Golgotha during the crusade in 1203. The building, with outer marble punctuated by high arcades on pilasters and human heads arches on the attack by followers of Giovanni Pisano, was built starting in 1277 by Giovanni di Simone, as indicated by the Latin inscription placed on the side of the the right portal. In the 14th century the internal arches, arches, were closed by four lights. In 1594, the chapel was erected on the eastern side of the well.
Along the southern side there are two doors, one of which that right, the principal, is surmounted by angels of Tino and Camaino and by a Madonna with Saints by Giovanni Pisano school, within rich Gothic Tabernacle. In the open field remain along the central axis medieval composite capitals of the 13th century.
